I’m Chanti, the founder, collector, and curator of this cool shop bringing you awesome vintage (and vintage-inspired) stuff to spend money on! Directly inspired by my years working at the metropolitan museum of art in NYc, I wanted to launch my own shop that offers a cheeky curation of archive-worthy designer goods and rare estate jewelry.

I’m an American/Spanish gal living the big city life in NYC, half-artist, half-globetrotter with a knack for the blood pumping adventure of hunting for unique items in flea markets, antique shops and salvage yards. Truth be told, you can find retro-looking items in mass-market shops as well, since fashion is cyclical at all levels, but we believe in sustainable luxury!

Anyway, ‘cause my personal collection is already taking up too much space, I’ve decided to create “This is Chanti” to help other vintage junkies get their fix and score rare items from different eras. The idea was sparked by a 40s raffia bag I randomly found in an L.A. based vintage shop (shoutout to owner Elizabeth at TroppoBella). It has hand-painted images of my mother’s small hometown, Sant Antoni de Calonge, and this find obviously took me on an emotional trip to NostalgiaTown (and made my quarantine blues much sweeter).

Salvador Dalí, my all-time inspiration, lived around the same area where I spent a good part of my childhood – which made me develop a strong connection with his legacy. For a Surrealism enthusiast, the joy of coming across your “objet trouvaille” and a moment of “magique circonstancielle” can’t be compared to any other feeling in the world. It’s funny how a simple object can have such a strong positive impact on someone’s mood, and as a self-proclaimed bearer of good vibes, I want to share this feeling with others as well. That’s how This is Chanti came to be.

My regularly updated collection will always feature exclusively handpicked items from all around the world, and each one of them will have its backstory. I’m a sucker for good stories, and I can’t wait to hear yours!

Thanks for reading, you’re the best!

P.S. Yes, I do actually have a tattoo of a smiley face on my wrist. My best friend and I got matching smileys on our last adventure (shoutout to Aiyana)!
